| Altingen, 2003-07-02 2003-005 Engraving Stainless Steel Working on stainless steel requires a special geometry of the tools. In response to numerous requests of metal-working users from industry, sign making or engraving business, vhf has extended its range of tools by an engraver's milling cutter for stainless steel. This carbide tool distinguishes itself by a very short cutting edge and a geometry which was developed especially for working on difficult to machine materials. Thus the danger that the tool may break is reduced and it is possible to process the workpieces at considerably higher rates of feed compared to using a conventional graver. Furthermore, this engraver's milling cutter has a special coating for working on stainless steel which prolongs the tool life notably. This engraver's milling cutter has a top angle of 60Š. It is made of a three-quarter carbide round rod with an additional flute. So it is much more stable than a graver and enables nevertheless a reliable removal of the chips.
